About Our School

 

Welcome to Discovery Elementary School!

 

Discovery Elementary first opened in 2015. Since opening in 2015, we have grown to a school population size of 560 students.  We are a K-5 school with 4 or 5 sections in each grade level. 

When you enter the halls of Discovery School, many visitors comment on the positive energy and teamwork spirit that is felt and observed at Discovery School.  Our success at Discovery School is due to the amazing students, staff, and families who are an invested part of this school family. Our teachers not only care for our students but teach in ways that make learning meaningful and purposeful for our students. Grade level teams value collaboration and as a result, they are intentional to build relationships with all students within their grade and beyond.  Our PTO is very active in supporting a variety of initiatives at Discovery School with a family Color Run, a family dance, family bingo night, and has supported numerous school field trips for all students.  Since opening, our PTO has expanded our playground to more than double its original size with most recently adding a basketball court, Gaga Ball pit and shade trees.  Our students, staff and the Grand Forks community are forever grateful for this!

As Principal of Discovery School, I am most proud to be a part of a school culture that supports innovation, collaboration, and risk-taking.
